Dear East Ramapo Community:

Welcome to the Secondary Education page. My name is Pedro J. Santana, and I am the Assistant Superintendent of East Ramapo Central School District. Among my many duties, I oversee the Office of Secondary Education.

The Secondary Education Department is comprised of two High Schools, Spring Valley and Ramapo. Also included are two Middle Schools, Chestnut Ridge and Pomona.  The Young Men's Leadership Academy, is located at the Ramapo Freshman Center.

Our schools and programs are committed to providing an excellent education to all our students offering them every opportunity for success in the "4 A's" - Academics, Arts, Athletics and Activities. Our schools value the diverse nature of our students and we encourage their participation in a range of experiences to broaden the scope of their academic achievement throughout their middle and high school years, through active learning, the arts, and technology.

At the high school level, a variety of electives are available and an excellent academic program prepares all students for entrance into college. Diverse and challenging course offerings represent a commitment to academic rigor with Honors and Advanced Placement opportunities.

Our schools provide a personalized learning environment to help our students reach their full potential as individuals and citizens. We promote their personal development, encouraging students to discover their unique and special talents. We also endeavor to instill in our students an understanding and appreciation of the multi-cultural world around us. It is our mission to embrace and nurture our children and foster pride and continuous growth by challenging every student to continuously learn, achieve and act with purpose and compassion. We will prepare our students to become problem solvers, effective communicators, and responsible citizens in our global society.

The continuing support of our community, a talented, dedicated faculty, along with a committed administration, is a winning combination that will benefit all the children of East Ramapo Central School District. I invite you to get to know our schools, our faculty and our programs. Nothing compares to actually seeing the excitement in our schools, so I invite you to visit and see for yourself the creativity and nurturing environment in our classrooms. Please feel free to contact our schools if you would like additional information, or to arrange a visit.

Yours truly,

Pedro J. Santana
