September 2017

Dear Hempstead Hero Parents,

I would like to welcome you back for the 2017-2018 school year. I hope you enjoyed your summer and you are excited for the beginning of a new school year.  I anticipate a wonderful year as we collectively strive to foster a culture of learning. The gifts and talents of our students combined with the dedication and passion of our teachers allow us to strive for excellence. We continue to work hard to ensure that Hempstead Elementary School will be recognized as a school that aims for success for both students and teachers.  As we strive for excellence, we will move from Good to GREAT!

And remember our district motto which is

East Ramapo,  ”RISE UP!” because we are going “ALL THE WAY UP!”

We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure your children can achieve their highest potential. The elementary years are critical times of development for students and I look forward to working with all of you to help make this school year successful for all our Hempstead Heroes. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our students need support from both home and school. We know a strong home & school connection will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for your children’s success and I want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities.

The first day of school will be Wednesday, September 6, 2017. If you are dropping off your child/children, they must be dropped off at 8:30am. Please do not drop students off any earlier because we do not have staff to supervise students before this time.  The official start and end time for school this year is 8:35am-3:00pm.

Remember: We will “RISE UP” because we are going “ALL THE WAY UP!”

Ms. Hazel Ortiz

Proud Principal of Hempstead Elementary
