SUMMER EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR NONPUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS

SUMMER READING and MATH PROGRAM

Description:

Certified Teachers conduct small group remedial reading and math instruction at the Multimedia Institute for Interactive Learning (MIIL Center).  Students in the program receive 60 minutes of Reading/Math instruction 5 days per week.  Teachers utilize a variety of research-based, proven methodologies to help improve each student's understanding of grade level /reading/math concepts in a fun and entertaining way.

Eligibility:

In order to qualify, students must be East Ramapo residents entering grades 2-7 in September, and must be recommended for the program by their nonpublic school.

Fees:

There is no fee for students who are accepted into this program.

NOTE:  There is limited availability and students who qualify will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.

SUMMER SLINGERLAND PROGRAM

Description:

The Slingerland program was designed as a Literacy Training program for local nonpublic school teachers.  A key component of the training is the incorporation of students for hands-on practice.  It was soon discovered that the students who participated in this intensive multi-sensory reading, spelling and handwriting program made very substantial gains winning the praise of parents, teachers, and students.

Students attend the Slingerland program for 3 ½ weeks and receive both classroom and one on one instruction from their assigned teacher. Students receive instruction for 3 hours per day, 5 days per week.

Eligibility

In order to qualify, students must be East Ramapo residents entering grades 3-6 in September, and must be recommended for the program by their nonpublic school.
